Translation: There are many New Yorkers who are, in fact, of Venezuelan heritage, and we're here today to celebrate the immense amount of work that those very New Yorkers have been doing gathering supplies, donations and medical needs to send to Venezuela, and [we're] looking at the ways in which our city can both recognize that work and also support that work.

I just spoke with a comedian who made his show into a place where New Yorkers could come and donate those items; a tattoo artist who was creating tattoo work for New Yorkers and then passing on the proceeds of it to these relief efforts.

Translation: In this moment, I think it's necessary that the federal government extends TPS for Venezuelans, because right now there are more than 350,000 Venezuelans in this country who are working or living here at the very least. And for them to have to consider that they might have to go back to Venezuela -
