Motorcyclist injured in crash; Illawarra Highway closed - Mount Murray

A rescue operation is underway on the Illawarra Highway in Mount Murray after a motorcycle crash.

About 11.45am today (Sunday 5 July 2020), emergency services were called to the Macquarie Pass after reports a motorcycle had crashed over an embankment, causing the rider to fall down the cliff.

Officers attached to The Hume Police District attended, along with NSW Ambulance paramedics who are treating the female rider.

Her injuries are not considered life-threatening at this stage.

The Illawarra Highway is closed in both directions on Macquarie Pass and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Traffic diversions are in place with light vehicles being directed to use Jamberoo Mountain Road as an alternative route and heavy vehicles directed to Picton Road.
