NAIDOC Week Program 2026: Bayside

Bayside Council is inviting the community to come together for NAIDOC Week 2026, honouring the histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This milestone year marks 50 years of NAIDOC celebrations and, under the theme of 50 Years of Deadly, is an opportunity to reflect on the strength, resilience and ongoing contributions of First Nations communities.

This year's program brings community, creativity and culture together through a series of free workshops, film, storytelling and family events across Bayside.

Celebrations begin with the Bayside NAIDOC Week Family Day on Saturday 4 July 2026, from 11am to 2pm at Cok Park, Kyeemagh (Kamay Bay), a free community celebration recognising 50 years of NAIDOC and honouring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

Throughout the week, Bayside Libraries will host a variety of activities for children and families, including Indigenous Sand Art at Sans Souci and Arncliffe libraries, Indigenous Waterways and Bushland Creations and Dance at Rockdale Library, and Indigenous Healing and Nutrition at Eastgardens Library.

A Bayside Film Club screening of The Song Keepers at Rockdale Library will celebrate Indigenous choral traditions and the power of music in carrying culture and story.

Muruwari artist Dr Virginia Keft will lead First Nations Weaving Connections at Eastgardens Library and Colours of Country at Rockdale Library. NAIDOC Week book displays at all Bayside Libraries will highlight First Nations stories and perspectives, encouraging the community to read, listen and learn.

Spaces are limited and registration is essential.
