Washington, D.C.-ASM welcomes a new president, president-elect and member of the ASM Board of Directors, who will begin their leadership terms on July 1, 2026. Together, these leaders will help advance ASM's mission and guide the continued evolution of its 3 scientific units.

Vaughn Cooper, Ph.D., professor of microbiology and molecular genetics and computational and systems biology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and Co-Founder and Director of the Center for Evolutionary Biology and Medicine, will serve as President of the Board of Directors.

Federico Sisti, Ph.D., an independent researcher at the Institute of Biotechnology and Molecular Biology (IBBM) of the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET), will serve as President-Elect of the Board of Directors.
Yvette S. McCarter, Ph.D., D(ABMM), has also been appointed by the ASM Board of Directors, in accordance with ASM Bylaws, to serve the remainder of Sisti's term as At-Large Board Director, which concludes on June 30, 2026.
