Construction of the new $25.1 million Mullewa Community Hospital continues to make strong progress, with the building now fully enclosed, weatherproof, and secure following the installation of its windows and doors.
The project is part of the Cook Labor Government's record $5.5 billion investment in health infrastructure.
External brickwork and wall cladding have now been completed, while internal works including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, insulation, and wall lining continue to progress.
Once complete, the new hospital will enhance access to health care for the Mullewa community by providing 24/7 emergency care alongside a range of health services under one roof, including:
- state-of-the-art virtual health facilities;
- group therapy rooms;
- respite and palliation;
- allied health consultation rooms and treatment spaces;
- multi-purpose consultation rooms; and
- an ambulance bay.
The government's health infrastructure program includes significant investments across the Mid West region such as the redevelopment of Geraldton Hospital and a new radiation oncology unit at the hospital, ensuring regional Western Australians have access to modern health care close to home.
As stated by Health Infrastructure Minister John Carey:
"The new Mullewa Community Hospital is on track to provide a range of acute and community services under one roof.
"I'm pleased to see this important part of the Cook Labor Government's record $5.5 billion health infrastructure investment progressing towards completion."
As stated by Health Minister Meredith Hammat:
"Our healthcare staff in the Mid West are already delivering exceptional care every day, and this new hospital will provide them with the modern facilities they need to continue caring for their community now and into the future.
"This investment is about backing regional communities with the facilities they deserve. By delivering contemporary healthcare closer to home, we're making it easier for people to access the services they need, while supporting our health workforce with purpose-built infrastructure."
