Murray River Council

Murray River Council's new Chief Executive Officer, Stacy Williams, has officially stepped into the role.

Joining the team last week, Stacy brings more than 19 years of local government experience to the position, including executive leadership roles in rural and regional councils.

Stacy is well-known for her leadership across statutory services, community services, corporate services and emergency management, and brings a strong focus on strategic direction, collaboration and community outcomes.

She joins MRC from the City of Greater Bendigo, where she held the position of Director, Healthy Communities and Environments.

Whilst settling into the role, Stacy said she is looking forward to working alongside local staff to deliver effective and efficient council services.

"I'm excited to get started as CEO of Murray River Council – it's a privilege to be given this role, and I take seriously the responsibility I have to Councillors, staff and the community."

"I look forward to getting out and about over the coming months and meeting the many community groups, community members and local leaders," she said.

Stacy is also looking to continue the advocacy momentum alongside the Mayor and Councillors.

"Murray River Council is continuing to make strides in the advocacy space, with a particular focus on services and funding," she said.

"I'm looking forward to connecting with local leaders, and state and federal governments to ensure they understand the issues and the opportunities facing our region."

Mayor, Cr John Harvie welcomed Stacy to the role and said her extensive experience and local knowledge made her an ideal fit for the position.

"We're thrilled to welcome Stacy to MRC. Her leadership, vision and strong understanding of regional communities will be an incredible asset as we continue to deliver for our residents."

Stacy also joined councillors and staff at her first MRC council meeting this week.

"I was impressed by the depth of discussion and strong sense of purpose in the chambers," she said.

"I'm excited to work alongside the whole council team to continue building on the great work that's already underway."

Stacy is based in the Moama Office but will be available to staff and the community as she makes her way around the council footprint in the coming weeks.
