Nominate Outstanding Community Achievements for Australia Day Awards

Do you know someone who lives, works or attends school in Willoughby and has provided outstanding community work? It's time to nominate Citizen, Young Citizen or Environmental Citizen of the Year. The three awards will be announced at a ceremony at The Concourse on Australia Day, 2022.

Citizen of the Year award recognises a significant personal contribution to the Willoughby community. This award is open to a person who is outstanding in the field of community services, including welfare, volunteer work, charity, the arts or sports.

Young Citizen of the Year award recognises a young person under 25 years old who has demonstrated significant achievement in any field, from academic, sports, arts or business.

Environmental Citizen of The Year award recognises outstanding efforts by individuals or organisations to preserve the environment, reduce litter and improve recycling.

Willoughby City Council Mayor Gail Giles-Gidney said, "The Australia Day Awards are a great opportunity to recognise people in the community who have worked tirelessly for many years."

2021 award winners were as follows:

Keith Anderson was recognised as Willoughby City Council's Citizen of the Year for his continuous work with the Artarmon Progress Association.

Kevin Mathers was awarded Environmental Citizen of the Year for his decades of work caring for the bush and training others to do so.

Brooke Allan was named Young Citizen of the Year for her work as a volunteer first aider with St John's Ambulance, including working alongside the Rural Fire Service during the bushfires.
