NSW police seek extradition over Daruk Boys' Home abuse

Detectives from the Nepean Police Area Command today will seek the extradition from Canberra of a man, charged in relation to serious, historical allegations of child sexual assault at a western Sydney boys’ home, NSW Police say.

The 81-year-old man was arrested around midday yesterday (Wednesday 27 June) by A.C.T. Police, in conjunction with NSW officers attached to Strike Force Eckersley, an investigation established in late 2016 to examine claims of sexual abuse within the Daruk Training School at Berkshire Park, near Windsor, between 1965 and 1985.

The elderly man was taken to the A.C.T. Watchhouse, charged by virtue of a NSW court warrant with 11 counts of indecent assault on a male and four counts of buggery.

Refused bail, he is due to appear this morning before the A.C.T. Magistrates Court where Nepean detectives will seek his extradition to Queanbeyan in New South Wales.
