We won't be beaten by this. This is my message for everyone impacted by the horrific events that unfolded at Fitzy's on Saturday night.
The victims, the witnesses and staff; absolutely everyone caught in the wake of this violent incident.
These past few days have been very difficult for our city.
We have never seen anything like this before. This is not the Logan we know.
Like many people, I struggle to understand how this could happen at such a family-friendly community event.
This was a fundraiser organised by people who are passionate about helping out young athletes.
That's what makes this attack the most cowardly, despicable kind of violence.
My thoughts are especially with the victims and their families, including the young woman critically injured while preparing for her turn in the ring.
I know there were also many other young people at the event, who will be incredibly distressed by what they experienced.
I encourage them, and their families, to reach out for the help they need in the days and weeks ahead.
A community response hub has opened at Logan Hyperdome, outside Spotlight, to provide mental health support.
It will remain open from 9am to 5pm until Wednesday and may remain open longer, depending on need.
I also want to address some of the misinformation that has been circulating online since Saturday night.
I understand people want answers. I do too. But inaccurate information is causing further distress for those impacted.

Our community is very grateful to the police, paramedics and other first responders who reacted quickly to treat the injured, secure the area and keep people as safe as possible.
Logan is a strong and caring city.
I know we will stand with those affected and support one another.
