Police arrest man after stolen vehicle crash in Norlane

Police have arrested a man after an allegedly stolen Mazda evaded police in Norlane overnight.

Geelong Highway Patrol officers first saw the silver Mazda traveling north on Princes Highway just after 8pm.

They attempted to intercept the car on Purnell Street and activated their lights and sirens.

The Mazda didn't stop and took off at a fast rate of speed, with police losing sight of the vehicle.

Highway Patrol officers continued back to the Princes Highway and saw the allegedly stolen Mazda had been involved in a collision a white utility at the intersection of Bacchus Marsh Road.

The male driver fled the scene on foot but was located nearby and subsequently arrested.

The driver, a 15-year-old Lara boy, was taken to hospital under police guard with non-life-threating injuries.

The passenger of the Mazda, a 21-year-old Norlane woman, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has spoken to police.

Three occupants of the utility were not injured.

The Mazda has been towed for forensic examination.

It is understood to have been stolen from a burglary in Highton yesterday.
