Police charge man after armed robbery - Kirribilli

A man has been charged after an alleged armed robbery at a convenience store on Sydney's North Shore yesterday.

About 10.20pm (Sunday 12 April 2020), officers from North Shore Police Area Command were called to reports of an armed robbery at a convenience store on MacDougal Street, Kirribilli.

Police have been told a man allegedly threatened an employee with a knife, before fleeing the location with cash and cigarettes.

A crime scene was established and following inquiries, the man was located nearby at Kiara Close, with assistance from the Dog Squad.

The 32-year-old allegedly ran from police and entered the water near High Street.

The man swam to Hayes Street Wharf and was arrested by waiting police.

He was taken to Chatswood Police Station, where he was charged with robbery whilst armed.

The man was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Monday 13 April 2020).
