Police charge woman after Lakes Entrance evade

Police from Lakes Entrance have charged a woman following an incident in Lakes Entrance on Saturday morning, 26 June.

Officers were patrolling Grandview Road when they attempted to intercept a silver Ford sedan just after midnight.

The vehicle failed to stop and sped off.

It was located a short time later in Capes Road, where it had been involved in a minor collision with a street sign.

A male, believed to be the driver, ran from the vehicle.

Police took chase but were unable to locate the man.

A female passenger was arrested at the scene and allegedly found in possession of what is believed to be methylamphetamine and ecstasy.

A search of the vehicle located a quantity of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

The woman was charged with trafficking and possession of drugs of dependence and remanded to appear at Bairnsdale Magistrates' Court today.
