Police conduct large scale search for missing man in Fairfield

Police are conducting a large scale search in Sydney’s west today for a man missing from Fairfield, NSW Police say.

Toi Dinh, aged 82, left his home on Vineyard Avenue, Smithfield, to go for a walk about 11am on Sunday 15 May 2016.

He was due home about 4pm but when he failed to return, Mr Dinh’s family contacted police.

Officers from Fairfield commenced a search of the Smithfield area but unfortunately he wasn’t able to be found.

today, police, with assistance from the Public Order and Riot Squad and State Emergency Service, will canvass the Fairfield and Smithfield area, in an attempt to locate Mr Dinh.

A command post has been established in Vineyard Avenue, Smithfield.

Mr Dinh is described as being of Asian appearance, about 165-170cm tall, 65-70kg, of slim build with short dark hair.

He was last seen wearing a grey tracksuit with a cream cap.


He is known to frequent the Smithfield area, and also Fairfield Railway Station.

Police hold serious concerns for Mr Dinh’s welfare due to his age and his medical conditions.
