Melton Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating an aggravated burglary and assault which occurred in Hillside this morning, Victoria Police say.
Investigators have been told two men broke into the Speargrass Drive home sometime after 11am.
A 55-year-old woman was assaulted and sustained serious injuries in the incident.
Police believe she may have been restrained by the men but are still to talk to her in hospital.
The men fled from the scene in the victim’s car,a champagne VW Passat, registration VAK 158.
