Police investigate serious assault at Camira

A 20-year-old Marsden man has been charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm after emergency services were called to an incident in Wilson Street, Camira yesterday.

At 11.30am on March 1, police will allege the man attacked a 33-year-old man known to him, causing significant head injuries, before leaving the scene.

The injured man underwent surgery overnight and remains in a critical condition at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

The 20-year-old man was located overnight by Ipswich detectives and charged to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court today (March 2).

An Investigation Centre has been established at Yamanto Police Station and a crime scene is ongoing in Wilson Street.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, anyone in the area at the time with dashcam or CCTV footage, or anyone with further information relating to the disturbance to come forward.

Investigations are ongoing.
