A man has been charged following an investigation into a ram raid in Wagga Wagga last month.
In the early hours of Monday 16 November 2020, a grey Holden Commodore sedan was allegedly stolen from a home in Downside, north west of Wagga Wagga.
About 4.45am the same day, the stolen Holden rammed the front of a service station on Tobruk Street, Ashmont, before a number of people allegedly ran inside the business and stole cash and cigarettes.
Officers from Riverina Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding both robberies.
About 5.30am, the vehicle was located well alight on McNickle Road, Wagga Wagga. The vehicle was completely destroyed by fire.
Following extensive inquiries, a 19-year-old man was arrested at a licensed venue in Ashmont about 1.30pm yesterday (Sunday 13 December 2020).
He was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station and charged with two counts of be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and aggravated break and enter dwelling in company.
The Ashmont man was refused bail to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Monday 14 December 2020).
Inquiries are continuing.
