Police make arrest - Property offences in Alice Springs

A 16-year-old male will appear before the Alice Springs Youth Justice Court today in relation to multiple property offences across Alice Springs.

Around 3:40am on December 22 it will be alleged the youth unlawfully gained entry into a Braitling home and stole a significant amount of property before being confronted by the occupant and running away.

On December 27, the youth attended a recreational facility on Speed Street where it is alleged he located a bag and stole a quantity of cash, car keys and a mobile phone.

Later the same day the youth attended a service station on Larapinta Drive where it is further alleged he became aggressive and made verbal threats towards a staff member before leaving.

On Monday January 6, Alice Springs General Duties Police located and arrested the youth in the Alice Springs CBD.

Investigators from the Property Crime Reduction Unit took carriage of the arrest and later charged the youth with:

  • Unlawful Entry (Dwelling)
  • Damage to property
  • 3 x Stealing
  • Assault a worker
