Police seek witnesses after Avondale Heights firearm incident

Fawkner Embona Taskforce detectives are appealing for public assistance after a firearms incident in Avondale Heights on 30 January.

Police believe a male driving a white Holden Cruze sedan was following a group of youths and nearly hit one of them about 4.30pm.

The male driver then got out of the car and fired at least one shot from a firearm which ricocheted off a fence and went into bushland.

The group of youths and the driver then fled the scene.

A man was arrested on 10 February and has been released pending further enquiries.

Police have released CCTV footage of a vehicle that is of interest to detectives.

Investigators are appealing for anyone in the group of youths or anyone else who may have witnessed the incident, has dashcam footage or recognises the vehicle involved to come forward.
