Police update: Sudden death investigation - Labrador

Police have charged a man with manslaughter following the death of a 60-year-old man in Labrador this morning.

It will be alleged at around 5.15am the 60-year-old man became involved in a verbal altercation with a 48-year-old man known to him outside a Whiting Street address

It is further alleged the altercation then turned physical, with the 60-year-old man knocked to the ground and assaulted by the 48-year-old man before being struck in the head with a wooden instrument.

The 60-year-old man managed to stand up and walk a short distance before collapsing.

Emergency services attended soon after however he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A 48-year-old Biggera Waters man has been charged with one count each of manslaughter and serious assault.

He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow (November 19).
