Rethink your recycling habits during National Recycling Week

Is it time to Rethink what you know about recycling?

To celebrate National Recycling Week (9-15 November) Mitchell Shire Council has organised five free online 'Rethink Recycling' sessions with the Rethink Waste Education Centre.

The one-hour virtual sessions will allow residents to see where their recycling goes and what becomes of it after it leaves your kerbside.

You'll be able to see how a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) separates your recycling into material types ready for reprocessing, and you'll learn the dos, the don'ts, the hows and the whys of recycling.

Then, you'll virtually step inside the Visy MRF to see the facility in action - where conveyor belts, material-specific machines, massive trommels and hard-working manual sorters make light work of separating your co-mingled recycling. You'll also have the chance to ask our experts any burning questions that you may have.

We'll be running sessions five sessions throughout the week:

  • Tuesday 10 November, 7pm-8pm
  • Wednesday 11 November 10am-11am
  • Thursday 12 November, 4pm-5pm
  • Friday 13 November, 1pm-2pm
  • Saturday 14 November, 11am-12pm

Places at each session are limited and you will need to register below.

These virtual events were developed for the tri-council partnership of Mitchell, Murrrindindi and Strathbogie Councils. The initiative supports the Southern Goulburn Region Waste and Resource Recovery Education Strategy 2019-2021.
