City of Darwin is inviting children, young people and families to enjoy a packed program of free activities these September and October school holidays, with events running from 21 September to 2 October 2026 across libraries, parks and community venues throughout Darwin.
The School Holiday Program features a diverse range of recreational, educational and creative activities designed to keep young people active, engaged and connected during the break from school.
Lord Mayor Peter Styles said the program offered something for everyone, from toddlers and primary school children to teenagers and young people.
"City of Darwin is proud to provide a wide range of free and low-cost opportunities for children, young people and families to learn new skills, stay active and connect with others during the school holidays," Mr Styles said.
"This program brings together our libraries, community facilities and local organisations to deliver fun, inclusive and accessible activities right across the municipality," he said.
The popular Fun in the Parks Program returns, featuring dance workshops, cricket, cycling, silent disco sessions, tennis and interactive activities delivered in partnership with local organisations and sporting groups.
Library programs include Baby Book Time, Rhyme Time, Family Story Time, STEAM Zone, LEGO Club, board games, movies and a Kid Reading Oz Choice Awards (KROC) Scavenger Hunt, encouraging young readers to explore the City of Darwin Libraries network.
Young people aged 12 to 25 years can participate in a range of youth-focused programs, including Gaming After Dark + VR, FREEze Skate, Geek Up and employment readiness opportunities through the popular Get that Job! and Intro into Espresso programs.
Movie lovers are also catered for, with a range of free and affordable screenings on offer throughout the holidays, including The Magic Faraway Tree and The Legend of Ochi at the libraries, as well as a special Deckchair Cinema screening of Spider-Man (2002) for young people.
The School Holiday Program is part of City of Darwin's ongoing commitment to supporting children, young people and families through accessible community programs that promote learning, wellbeing and social connection.
