See Yourself at ACES at Farm Progress Show 2021 Aug. 31

"See Yourself at ACES" when you join the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences at Farm Progress Show 2021 in Decatur Aug. 31-Sept. 2.

The College of ACES tent, located at 34W, south of the main entrance on West Progress Avenue, will feature exhibits and interactive opportunities presented by the college and University of Illinois Extension for producers and those in the agriculture industry, as well as for high school students and their families, ag teachers, FFA leaders, and others.

Throughout the show, you can "See Yourself at ACES" in the ACES tent as ACES academic programs office representatives and student leaders will visit and meet with parents and prospective students. ACES Alumni Association board members and staff, as well as Office of Advancement staff, will also connect with alumni and friends of ACES.

Other ACES exhibit and activity highlights include:

  • Farm Business Farm Management Association will be on hand to answer questions and share information.
  • Illinois Extension educators and specialists will exhibit a saturated buffer model that demonstrates an edge-of-field practice to reduce nitrogen and phosphorus in our water; "eyes on amaranth," during which attendees will follow clues and plant samples for each species of amaranth (pigweeds) to sharpen their weed identification skills; plants and information on their value for pollinators in Illinois; and much more.
  • Illinois 4-H Alumni Association will connect with alumni. Stop by to register as a 4-H alum and free photo opportunity.
  • University of Illinois Artificial Intelligence for Future Agricultural Resilience, Management, and Sustainability Institute (AIFARMS) staff will spotlight forward-thinking technologies covering autonomous farming, including in-field robotics.
  • Representatives from ACES Agricultural Safety & Health program will discuss grain bin safety, farmer mental health and stress management, VR-based safety trainings, and more.

  • ACES Shelly Nickols-Richardson, associate dean and director of Illinois Extension, will speak during a forum on mental health in the FPS Media tent (#21E) Tues. 8/31 at 9:30 a.m.
  • Craig Lemoine, clinical associate professor of agricultural & consumer economics and director of financial planning in ACES, will discuss succession planning in the Corteva Agriscience / Pioneer tent (#823 and #833) Tues. 8/31 at 1:30 p.m. and Wed. 9/1 12:30 p.m.
