Seville Grove - Champion Lakes bushfire

Armadale Detectives with the assistance of Strike Force Vulcan officers, have charged a 15-year-old boy after two bushfires in the Armadale District on Wednesday 3 January 2024.

It will be alleged about 3.10pm, the boy set fire to dry leaf material in bushland on the corner of Lake Road and Catalonia Street in Seville Grove, resulting in a large-scale out of control bushfire.

It will be further alleged he then walked to bushland within the area of Henderson Drive, Riverside Lane, Ranford and Lake Roads in Seville Grove where he again set fire to bushland.

As a result of these two bushfires, approximately five hectares of bushland was destroyed and structural damage caused to the roof of a fast food outlet in Champion Lakes, to the value of approximately $10,000.

The 15-year-old Seville Grove boy has been charged with:

• Two counts of Wilfully Light or Cause to be Lit a Fire Likely to Injure or Damage.

He is due to appear before the Armadale Children's Court on Friday, 19 January 2024.
