COVID cases in SA

There have been 646 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 3,616 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm two women in their 90s and two men in their 80s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away. The deaths notified since the last report occurred between 12 August 2022 and 5 September 2022.

There are 90 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including eight people in ICU. Of those hospitalised, 66 people have received three or more vaccine doses, 20 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and four have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants

The latest genome sampling has found 2.2% of samples analysed were BA.2, 5.6% of samples analysed were BA.4 and 89.9% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.

COVID testing

Yesterday, 4,670* people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 30.3% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 301 PCR tests were positive, while 345 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

Vaccination update

Currently 96.2% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 94.3% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 75% of eligible South Australians and 70.8% of South Australians aged 16+.
