Start of new project and post-doctorate on pandemic preparedness

We are happy to announce that Felix Stein will be part of our new project on pandemic preparedness.

First project meeting

This month saw the launch of SUM’s new research project that will investigate how public and private actors collaborate to ensure pandemic preparedness: Private-public cooperation for pandemic preparedness and response in Norway (PANPREP).

The aim of the PANPREP project is to analyze how the growing reliance on public-private cooperation is shaping Norwegian authorities’ approach to pandemic preparedness and response, both nationally and internationally.

New Postdoctoral Fellow

At the same time, we are happy to welcome Felix Stein this week as a new post-doctorate on the project.

Felix holds a PhD in Social Anthropology from the University of Cambridge. He has previously been a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh, researching infectious disease responses in Haiti and in African health systems. He has a special interest in economic anthropology, development studies and research methods.

I am happy to be joining SUM for this very important project. I am looking forward to investigating how the rise of health bonds affects public-private collaboration, says Felix.

The project is led by Associate Professor Katerini Storeng, with partnership from Stig Rune Sellevåg from the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI), who will be looking specifically at digital disease surveillance technologies.
