Statement on ANZ

The NFF was very pleased to have clarification from the ANZ that confirms the bank does not intend to limit finance or base its lending decisions to farmers on emissions targets, nor seek to impose penalties on farmers who don't met bank-determined targets.

Farmers manage 51% of the Australian landscape, everyday delivering biodiversity benefits on behalf of all Australians. Agriculture is committed to being a part of Australia's climate change mitigation solutions and we must have support from the financial sector to keep growing.

The NFF's goal for farmgate output to tally $100 billion by 2030, includes a target for the sector to be trending towards carbon neutral by the same year.

Farmers and the banking sector are mutually dependent. A continued collaborative relationship, based on shared values and goals, is key to achieving $100 billion by 2030.
