Strong Government agenda as Parliament returns

Nic Street, Leader of the House

This week in Parliament our Government will be focussed on delivering on what matters for all Tasmanians.

We will be bringing forward for debate important legislation, including the:

  • Guardianship and Administration Amendment Bill, to ensure the needs of our most vulnerable are served with contemporary framework that reflects best practice;
  • Residential Building (Home Warranty Insurance Amendments) Bill, to protect homeowners by bringing Tasmania in line with all other states with mandatory home warranty insurance for residential building work; and the
  • State Policies and Projects Amendment Bill, that will facilitate the independent assessment of the Macquarie Point Stadium.

We will also introduce the Housing Land Supply Amendment Bill 2023, to help us continue to unlock eligible government land for housing to meet our 10,000 homes by 2032 commitment.

Our Government has been working hard to stick to our long-term plan and focus on what matters to all Tasmanians.

Of course, we understand that our political opponents will seek to misuse the Parliament with tricks, stunts and political games, and no doubt motions and private members time designed purely for the political theatre of showing a crossbench potentially siding with Labor and the Greens.

Our commitment is to work constructively and cooperatively with all members of the Parliament, in the interests of all Tasmanians.

Tasmanians deserve certainty and a Parliament focussed on delivering what matters, not on political games. That's what our Government will be focussed on delivering.
