Three injured in crash involving stolen car - Marrickville

Three people have been injured in a crash involving a stolen car at Marrickville overnight.

Officers from the Inner West Police Area Command were travelling on Victoria Road about 8.50pm (Monday 28 June 2021), when they saw a VW Golf sedan which had been reported stolen from Glebe.

Police activated their warning lights to stop the driver; however, the vehicle accelerated through the intersection of Sydenham Road and hit an SUV being driven by a 63-year-old man.

The driver of the sedan, a 43-year-old man, got out of the car and collapsed with police performing CPR until NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived. A 38-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the sedan, was trapped for a short time before being released.

The driver of the SUV, a 63-year-old man, was also trapped and had to be released by officers attached to Police Rescue.

All have been taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for treatment, with all reported to be in a stable condition.

A crime scene was established as officers commence investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
