TRC plans fuel reduction burns around Redwood Park, Range Highway

Toowoomba Regional Council is planning to take advantage of favourable conditions to conduct a fuel reduction burn on the Toowoomba Range Highway and parts of Redwood Park from Monday, August 31.

TRC Parks and Recreation Services portfolio leader Cr Tim McMahon said a fuel reduction burn was planned on the Toowoomba escarpment from Harvey Street in the north, through to The Range Highway (Toowoomba Connection Road) in the south from September 7.

Planned fuel reduction burns:

Week starting August 31: A fuel reduction burn will occur on the Toowoomba Range Highway in conjunction with Transport and Main Roads. This burn includes areas of bushland between the old and new sections of The Range Highway (the Warrego Highway and the Toowoomba Connection Road) and part of Redwood Park. Affected areas of Redwood Park will be signposted. Panorama Crescent Park will be included in fuel reduction burning during this week.

Week starting September 7: A large fuel reduction burn will occur across the Toowoomba escarpment extending from Harvey Street in the north, through to The Range Highway, Toowoomba Connection Road, in the south. This burn includes a large section of Jubilee Park, some private landholdings and a small section of Redwood Park. Prince Henry Heights is likely to be affected by smoke from this fire and Council staff will try to minimise this where possible, depending on prevailing winds. **All of Jubilee Park will be closed for the week (from September 7).
