UC Davis Medical Center earned four awards from the American Heart Association for its optimal care for heart and stroke patients
These awards are part of the Get With The Guidelines program run by the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association.
They honor hospitals that integrate research and evidence-based guidelines into clinical practice, supported by data that shows better patient results.
"These awards serve as a powerful testament to the high-quality care UC Davis Health delivers to cardiovascular and stroke patients," shared Joseph Galante, chief medical officer for UC Davis Medical Center. "This recognition underscores our commitment to quality and safety as well as the caliber of our clinical care providers."
The Get With The Guidelines awards are based on data from the 2024 calendar year.

Get With The Guidelines – Heart Failure Gold Plus with Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll
Heart failure is a long-term condition in which the heart can't pump enough blood and oxygen to the body. There's no cure, but people can still live well by following a care plan with their doctor. This may include medicine, monitoring symptoms and making healthy changes.
Hospitals receiving this award meet specific criteria that improves patient medication adherence, provides early follow-up care and coordination and enhances patient education. The goal is to further reduce hospital readmissions and help patients improve their quality of life in managing this chronic condition.
Get With The Guidelines – Stroke Gold Plus with Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite Plus with Advanced Therapy with Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll
A blocked or burst blood vessel in the brain causes a stroke. Quick treatment for a stroke can save lives, reduce disability and improve chances of a faster recovery.
To qualify for this recognition, hospitals must meet specific criteria that reduces the time between an eligible patient's arrival at the hospital and the start of treatment with thrombolytic therapy.

Coronary Artery Disease NSTEMI, or non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction, is a heart attack that happens when the heart doesn't get enough oxygen.
The award is earned by hospitals that demonstrate a commitment to treating patients according to the most up-to-date, research-based guidelines for NSTEMI care as outlined by the American Heart Association.
