The Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK) has contributed EUR 585,000 to the Trust fund for Syria Missions, EUR 175,500 to the Trust fund for Implementation of Article X, and two contributions to the Trust Fund for Training, amounting to over EUR 550,000.
The contribution for the Trust Fund for Syria Missions will enable the OPCW to continue its independent technical work in Syria, including verification activities and the deployment of expert missions in support of the full implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention. The OPCW's work in Syria remains central to the Organisation's mission to uphold the global norm against chemical weapons.
The contribution to the Trust Fund for the Implementation of Article X will be used to facilitate the provision of equipment, training, expertise, logistical support and further technical assistance to enhance Ukraine's resilience against chemical weapons threats.
The contributions to the two Trust Fund for Training will be used for preventing illicit transfers of toxic chemicals in Africa, and for enhanced on-site and off-site analytical capabilities for verification of unscheduled chemical threat agents.
H.E. Mr Christopher Maxwell Rampling, Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK) to the OPCW, stated: "At a critical time for the Organisation, this funding will help deliver important areas of its work including the continuing efforts in Syria, support for Ukraine as it responds to the threat and use of chemical weapons, and other targeted capacity-building projects."

To date, the United Kingdom has provided over EUR 5.8 million voluntary contributions to strengthen the Organisation's activities.
Voluntary contributions from Member States provide resources and the flexibility needed to respond to operational requirements and ensure the Technical Secretariat can continue implementing its mandate effectively.
