Unlawful entry and robbery at Tennant Creek

Northern Territory Police are investigating an incident in which a man was assaulted at his home in Tennant Creek on the weekend.

At 3:45am on Sunday 11 October, two unknown offenders forced entry into a home on Blain Street and began searching the premises when they were disturbed by a male resident.

The pair attempted to flee when the man grabbed hold and restrained one offender while calling out to neighbours to assist.

The offender broke free and ran into the back yard where he armed himself with a rake and used it to assault the man before jumping the fence into a neighbouring yard.

It is further alleged the offender armed himself with a length of wood and returned to the property where he attempted to assault the occupant again. The resident sought refuge inside the house and contacted police.

A quantity of cash and some cigarettes were stolen during the incident. The man suffered injuries to his right arm during the assault.

Police have conducted door knocks in the area and are seeking public assistance from anyone who may CCTV footage of the area to contact them on 131 444.

If you have information which may assist with investigations please call 131 444 or report it anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 and reference PROMIS number 9448055.
