Northern Beaches Council has launched the Reuse and Recycling Map - a handy list of locations you can drop off your unwanted goods.
Northern Beaches Mayor Michael Regan said this is a great initiative.
"The Northern Beaches residents are a very environmentally conscious lot, so this is just another way to ensure unwanted household goods find another home, are up-cycled or recycled which otherwise would be destined for landfill.
"Everyone has things they no longer need stashed in the cupboard, garage or the shed so the Reuse and Recycle Map is a one-stop shop which lists everything from clothing bins to op shops and recycling venues. When you drop off your goods make sure you take the time to pick up a bargain at your nearest Op Shop while your there.
"It would be great to see this list grow. If you're a resident, business, charity or group that accepts free drop-offs of materials for reuse, resale or recycling you can apply to be added to our map." Mayor Regan said.
The following are just some of the things you can drop off at the many venues listed:
- batteries, computers and other e-waste
- toys, bikes and sports equipment (even shoes)
- phones, toner and print cartridges
- towels and blankets, toothbrushes and toothpaste tubes
- plastic plant pots.
