Update on playgrounds, outdoor exercise areas and skate parks

The State Government has announced that from 11.59pm on Thursday 2 September, playgrounds will reopen for children aged under 12, with one parent/carer. The parent/carer cannot remove their mask to eat or drink while there, and a QR code check-in will be required.

Basketball hoops, skate parks, outdoor exercise equipment and barbecues remain closed.

We ask the community to respect this directive from the State Government, comply with playground rules and not attempt to use closed equipment or facilities at this time. The restrictions are designed to keep the Monash community safe and we all must do what we can to curb the spread of the virus.

In addition, the following restrictions continue to apply:

  • Curfew from 9pm to 5am each night
  • Exercise with one other person from your household
  • Masks cannot be removed in public to consume alcohol
  • Permits are required for essential work

There are only five reasons to leave home. You can only leave home to:

  • Get the food and supplies you need
  • Exercising for up to two hours with one other person from your household
  • Care or caregiving including getting a COVID-19 test
  • Authorised work or education if it can't be done at home
  • Getting vaccinated at the nearest possible location
