Western Australia coronovirus update as at 8 March 2021

The Department of Health has reported two new cases of COVID-19 overnight.

The State's total number of confirmed cases now stands at 919.

One male is in his 30s and the other male in his 50s who have returned from overseas travel and are currently in hotel quarantine.

WA Health is monitoring seven active cases of COVID-19 and 903 people have recovered from the virus in WA.

Yesterday 968 people were vaccinated. To date, 7840 West Australians have received the COVID vaccine.

Yesterday at WA Health COVID clinics 357 people presented for testing – 356 were assessed and swabbed.

To date, 26 cases of variant strains have been detected in Western Australia (18 B.1.1.7 of the strain and 8 of the B.1.351 strain).

There have been 887,191 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those, 130,719 were from regional WA.
