Western Sydney University has achieved an impressive rise in the latest QS World University Rankings, jumping 126 places to score an overall rank of 375th in the world.
The University received its highest ranking to date out of almost 1,500 institutions globally.
The QS World University Rankings is one of the world's most-consulted university ranking systems.
Now in its 20th year, the QS World University Rankings assess institutions against a range of performance indicators, including academic reputation, faculty/student ratio, citations, employment outcomes and sustainability.
Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Barney Glover AO, said it has been a stellar year for the University in terms of ranking achievements.
The QS result follows the University recently being named number one in the world, for the second year in a row, for its social, economic, and environmental impact in the 2023 Times Higher Education (THE) University Impact Rankings.
"Western Sydney University is incredibly proud to be consistently ranked amongst the world's best universities, setting the highest standards for excellence in teaching, research and innovation, and the student experience," said Professor Glover.

Performance highlights for Western Sydney University in the QS World University Rankings 2024 include:
- Increasing its ranking on Academic Reputation, achieving a world ranking of 483, up from 501+ last year. This metric is taken from the annual QS Academic Reputation Survey and assesses the perceptions of academics from around the world on which institutions demonstrate academic excellence.
- Improving its performance in the category International Research Network, with a ranking of 206, up from 246 last year. This indicator measures the diversity and richness of an institution's international research partnerships.
- Increasing its score on Employment Outcomes from 6.4 to 10.3. This score reflects the ability of institutions to ensure a high level of employability for graduates, while fostering the development of future leaders.
- A strong ranking for Sustainability, at equal 92nd in the world. This measure is taken from the standalone QS Sustainability Ranking and evaluates the social and environmental impact of universities as centres of education and research.
