Winter Honored with NAATBatt Lifetime Achievement Award

IInternational award for the battery researcher's life's work

Prof. Martin Winter received the international "NAATBatt Lifetime Achievement Award" for his outstanding contributions to science, technology and application in the field of modern battery and energy storage technology. The award was presented by the North American trade association "NAATBatt International" at the "NAATBatt 2024 Building Capacity" conference in Carlsbad, California. NAATBatt has more than 330 members from industry. Previous award winners include the Nobel Prize laureates Prof. Dr Stanley Whittingham and Prof. Dr John Goodenough.

Martin Winter is the founding director and scientific leader of Helmholtz Institute Münster (HI MS; IEK-12) at Forschungszentrum Jülich and MEET Battery Research Center at the University of Münster. The chemist has been conducting research in the field of electrochemical energy storage and energy conversion for more than 30 years. His focus is on the development of new materials, components and cell designs for lithium-ion and lithium-metal batteries as well as alternative battery systems.

About the NAATBatt Conference

Executives, scientists and investors meet annually at the conference NAATBatt to discuss market developments and the latest developments in the industry, learn about new companies and technologies and to network. This year's conference focuses on the rapid expansion of advanced battery production in North America. The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to Winter on the third day of the conference.
