Woman injured during explosion at Canterbury

Police have commenced inquiries after a woman suffered burns following an explosion at a home in Canterbury overnight.

About 11.30pm (Monday 8 June 2020), a 55-year-old woman was inside her home on Robert Street when she heard a number of loud 'bangs' coming from outside.

She walked out onto her driveway to investigate when an aerosol can exploded. She suffered burns to her hands and legs and was treated at the scene before being taken to Concord Hospital for further treatment.

A crime scene has been established at the home after officers found a number of flammable items on the driveway.

Officers from Burwood Police Area Command would like to speak with anyone who may have information that could assist.
