WWE Legend John Cena Coming To Perth This Year

  • Global superstar John Cena to travel to Perth this year for his final World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) appearance in Australia
  • WWE weekend takeover of RAC Arena will include Friday Night SmackDown, a Saturday Night Premium Live Event, and Monday Night RAW
  • WWE event exclusive to Western Australia and will be broadcast globally on Netflix
  • Supported by the WA Government through Tourism WA

WWE superstar turned A-list Hollywood actor John Cena will travel to Perth later this year for his final Australian WWE appearance, as part of his global 2025 Farewell Tour.

Tourism Minister Reece Whitby said Cena would headline an Australian-exclusive WWE bonanza, as the global sports entertainment juggernaut brings three iconic WWE events to RAC Arena for a long weekend of wrestling.

The extravaganza will be broadcast around the world, including on Netflix in Australia, and will include a Friday Night SmackDown followed by a Saturday Night Premium Live Event, before the blockbuster weekend closes with Monday Night RAW.

The premium gambit of WWE events has never occurred in Australia and will be the only WWE broadcast event to take place in Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia this year.

Cena is a 16-time WWE world champion who is widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time and is also known for his successful career as an action and superhero film star. 2025 marks his Farewell Tour as he ends his WWE in-ring career.

Cena's upcoming Perth appearance has already elevated WA on an enormous global stage, with the appearance announced during WWE's annual WrestleMania event in Las Vegas last night, which was broadcast to a mammoth worldwide audience in the hundreds of millions thanks to WWE's international partnership with streaming giant Netflix.

WWE also teased that further details on the Perth Premium Live Event will be made in the coming weeks.

The return of the world-famous sports entertainment brand to WA comes off the back of a hugely successful WWE event in WA in 2024, which saw last February's Premium Live Event, WWE Elimination Chamber: Perth, attract over 18,200 out-of-state visitors to WA, generating $36.2 million for the State's economy.

The event also set records at the time as the most-attended, most-watched and highest-grossing Elimination Chamber event in WWE history and could be seen in up to a billion households around the world.

Attracting major events to WA isa key part ofthe Cook Government'seconomic diversification strategy.

As stated by Tourism Minister Reece Whitby:

"Securing John Cena for his final Australian WWE appearance ever is a huge win for our state- it will be incredible to see Cena make good on his trademark catchphrase "you can't see me", as this will be the last chance for Australians to see him perform on our home soil before his retirement from professional wrestling.

"Our ambition is to become the fastest growing events destination in the South East Asia region, and the swift return of WWE after last year's incredibly successful WWE Elimination Chamber: Perth is proof that we are achieving that goal and becoming known around the world for delivering top tier major events.

"WWE promises to again deliver thousands of out-of-state visitors to Western Australia and generate millions of dollars for our hospitality, tourism and accommodation sectors, and we can't wait to welcome the WWE world back to Perth, with John Cena in tow."

As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister Rita Saffioti:

"Western Australia is ready to rumble again as WWE and the legendary John Cena prepare to head down under.

"Our State is well and truly on the map when it comes to major events, and having someone like John Cena be part of this latest WWE event in WA is another a massive coup.

"Our world-class facilities, including the international award-winning RAC Arena and Optus Stadium, provide incredible venues for major events, holding massive crowd numbers and delivering an event experience that often result in events like WWE returning to Perth time and time again."
