Yale's Largest Entrepreneurship Awards Competes in Tsai CITY

Yale's biggest entrepreneurship awards competition, Startup Yale 2023, will take place March 30-31, 2023 at Tsai Center for Innovating Thinking at Yale (Tsai CITY).

During the event, 32 teams of entrepreneurs will present innovative ideas to address a range of global challenges. They will compete for more than $175,000 in prizes.

Grounded in inclusivity and impact, Startup Yale is a key event in a concerted effort to create a new kind of innovation ecosystem at Yale and in Greater New Haven. The annual competition is an opportunity for Yale innovators to join with community leaders, investors, and practitioners to reimagine the future.

"This year's Startup Yale is the largest to date and has had a record number of teams apply, with over 120 applications for all prizes," said Matt Gira, director of programming at Tsai CITY. "Startup Yale is a sneak peek into some of the most exciting ventures at Yale and beyond."

Tsai CITY inspires students from diverse backgrounds and disciplines to seek innovative ways to solve real-world problems. Launched in 2017, it is the hub for student innovation at Yale, serving students from across the campus through co-curricular programs, funding, and mentorship.

Tsai CITY will cohost Startup Yale 2023 with Yale School of Management, Yale Center for Business and the Environment, InnovateHealth Yale, Dwight Hall, and CTNext.

Startup Yale 2023 includes two days of pitches and prizes. The awards are: Black Venture Summit Prize ($20,000), Manolo Sanchez Prize ($25,000), Miller Prize ($25,000), New Haven Civic Innovation Prize (up to $10,000), Rita Wilson Prize in Support of Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Health Technology ($10,000), Sustainable Venture Prize ($25,000), Thorne Prize for Social Innovation in Health or Education ($25,000), and Yale Innovators Prize ($15,000).
