- First recipient of the Veterans Facilities Fund Grant announced
- $200,000 to upgrade Legacy WA Busselton Camp
- Investment supports a vital space for connection, respite, and support
The Cook Labor Government is marking the State's inaugural Day of Recognition for Families of Veterans with a $200,000 investment to upgrade the Legacy WA Busselton Camp.
The funding, delivered through the Veterans Facilities Fund (VFF), will support essential upgrades to the much-loved facility, ensuring it remains safe, functional, and fit-for-purpose for veterans and their families.
For generations, the Busselton Camp has provided a place of connection, resilience, and support, particularly for the children of veterans. It offers a safe environment to build friendships and navigate the unique challenges of military family life.
This investment recognises not only the importance of the facility, but the invaluable contribution families make in supporting those who serve.
A total of 14 ex-service organisations will be awarded a share of $1.78 million in funding through the VFF, to support a variety of projects at ex-service organisation facilities.
As stated by Veterans Minister Paul Papalia:
"On the first Day of Recognition for Families of Veterans in WA, we acknowledge the strength, sacrifice, and resilience of the families who stand beside those who serve.
"The Legacy WA Busselton Camp is a special place where those families, especially children, can connect, feel supported, and simply be kids.
"This funding will ensure the camp continues to provide that support for generations to come."
As stated by Legacy WA president Steve Stoll:
"The Busselton camp has been a cornerstone of support for Legacy families in WA for many years. This funding will make a tangible difference, allowing us to commence the revitalisation of the camp and continue to deliver meaningful programs."
