Architect appointed to design new early childhood building at Mount Helena Primary School

  • Architect appointed for $2 million early childhood building at Mount Helena Primary School

  • Christou Architects has been chosen to design the new early childhood building at Mount Helena Primary School in Swan Hills, which will provide exciting learning opportunities for kindergarten and pre-primary students.

    The modern new building will include two early childhood classrooms, toilets, a kitchen and storage facilities.

    With the project now in the planning stage, construction is expected to start mid next year with completion expected in February 2022.

    The project is part of the McGowan Government's WA Recovery Plan to modernise Western Australian public schools and is expected to create more than seven jobs.

    As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:

    "This is an exciting opportunity for families and young children starting their education journey at Mount Helena Primary School, which originally opened in 1890.

    "The Government has committed to upgrading 24 public primary schools across the State as part of our recovery plan which will modernise our schools and create jobs in the construction industry."

    As stated by Swan Hills MLA Jessica Shaw:

    "This modern new facility will ensure our youngest students have the best possible start to their education.

    "I am thrilled to see the project now moving ahead and can't wait to see the designs from Christou Architects."
