Assault and property offences - Tiwi Islands

Northern Territory Police have charged a 22-year-old man following multiple incidents on the Tiwi Islands in the last fortnight.

Police allege the man assaulted a 19-year-old woman on two separate occasions.

Police further allege the same man unlawfully entered three dwellings where property was damaged and several items were stolen.

Subsequently, a firearm and ammunition were allegedly stolen by youths known to the man. These items have been located by police and investigations are ongoing to identify the youths.

The 22-year-old was charged with:

  • 1 X recklessly endangering serious harm
  • 1 X aggravated assault
  • 2 X breach domestic violence order
  • 4 X breach bail
  • 2 X aggravated unlawful entry - building
  • 3 X stealing
  • 2 X damage to property
  • 1 X trespass on premises
  • 1 X armed with offensive weapon (night)
  • 1 X consume prohibited liquor in restricted area

He was remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Local Court on 7 January 2021.
