Construction begins on Pembroke Park Stadium

Jane Howlett,Minister for Sport and Recreation

The Tasmanian Government is committed to improving sporting facilities around Tasmania to improve participation rates and provide the modern infrastructure our sporting organisations deserve.

I am excited to announce that construction on the $10.2 million Pembroke Park Stadium has begun.

Jointly funded by the Tasmanian and Federal Governments and the Sorell Council, the modern facility will include two netball/basketball courts, a gym, offices, a meeting room, change rooms, kitchen/canteen, bar and function room and parking.

The construction tender for the project has been awarded to Tasmanian company Vos Construction and Joinery, with several local jobs set to be created as a result.

The Sorell Council has previously been awarded $630,000 under our Government's Levelling the Playing Field Grants Program to upgrade unisex change rooms for Pembroke Park.

Initial site preparation work for the Stadium is now underway, with the project expected to be completed by December 2021.
