Dangerous driving and drink driving charges at Maroochydore

Sunshine Coast police are appealing for information regarding an alleged dangerous driving incident that took place in Maroochydore on Friday night (May 14).

Police have released vison of a Mercedes Benz after the driver was allegedly over four times the legal limit on Friday night.

It will be alleged just before 8pm police were travelling east on Bradman Avenue just before Minti Street when a black Mercedes Benz sedan travelling in the opposite direction crossed onto the wrong side of the road, forcing the officer to take evasive action.

Police stopped the vehicle further along Bradman Avenue.

The driver was transported to the Maroochydore Police Station where he allegedly returned a breath alcohol concentration of 0.205.

A 56-year-old Maroochydore man was charged with one count each of dangerous driving and driving under the influence of liquor of a drug and is due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on May 31.

Investigators are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the manner of driving of the black Mercedes Benz in the area on Friday, to come forward.
