Deadline Sept. 14 to apply for arts council grants

The Cornell Council for the Arts has extended to Sept. 14 the deadline to apply for funding through the Individual Grant Program, which offers direct financial support for the development of new and experimental arts projects to be shared in the Cornell and Ithaca communities.

Project grants, awarded annually, are up to $2,500 each to faculty, departments and programs; and $1,000 to individual students and registered student organizations.

The CCA welcomes proposals from individual artists, artist groups and artistic collaborations. Proposals from non-artists are also welcome, for projects that expand the boundaries of any given arts, design or related discipline, and those that promote original, emergent and critically engaged artforms and ideas.

Proposals are also encouraged for interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary work that addresses issues informed by the Black Lives Matter movement and COVID-19, in concert with the 2020 Cornell Biennial theme - Swarm: Ecology, Digitality, Sociality.

All submissions should include a plan for virtual exhibition or performance, should social distancing requirements remain in effect.
