Doppler Radar Threats, CA Heat Wave: Swain Talks

UCLA

This week, a group that the Southern Poverty Law Center has designated as an anti-government militia organization is calling on its members to destroy Doppler weather radar – technology that shows whether it's raining and helps detect severe storms in time to issue life-saving warnings. Contrary to the group's claims, NOAA's weather stations "cannot exert physical control over said (severe weather) conditions," says UCLA and the University of California's Agriculture and Natural Resources climate scientist Daniel Swain.

Join Swain in a live briefing today, Thursday, May 8, at 2 p.m. PT/5 p.m. ET, for a debunking about weather radar, a brief update on federal actions against climate science, and details about California's spring heat wave.

Join live to ask questions in the chat, or use the same link later to review the recording.
