Four lives lost and three people seriously injured in past 24 hours on Queensland roads

Four people have died and three seriously injured in the past 24 hours in five separate incidents on Queensland roads.

The crashes come as police launch Operation Cold Snap to coincide the with the school holidays.

The state-wide road safety operation aims to reduce the amount of lives lost on our roads.

The Queensland Police Service is urging everyone to make safe choices when using the roads.

Don't drive if you are tired, watch your speed, drive to the conditions and avoid distractions.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have been travelling in the areas at the time of the crashes or has dash cam vision to come forward.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating each incident.

Fatal Crash, Pallara

A 19-year-old man has died and two others are seriously injured following a single vehicle traffic crash in Brisbane's south last night.

Just after 10pm, a car was travelling north on Ritchie Road and lost control hitting a power pole.

The backseat passenger, a 19-year-old Inala man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver, an 18-year-old Park Ridge woman was taken to Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital with serious injuries.

Another passenger, a 17-year-old teenage boy was also taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Fatal Crash, near Cardwell

A 34-year-old Kirwan man has died after his car crashed into a tree in the state's north.

The man was travelling along the Bruce Highway and struck the tree, causing the car to catch fire, south of Cardwell, just after 5pm.

Members of the public attempted to rescue the man from the car, however were unsuccessful.

The man, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was declared deceased at the scene.

Fatal crash, Parklands (previous release issued)

A 37-year-old motorcyclist died after he struck a vehicle at Parklands yesterday afternoon.

Preliminary investigations indicate around 11.30am a blue motorcycle was heading south on Nambour Connection Road, when it hit a black Toyota travelling north off the Bruce Highway.

The rider was transported to Nambour Hospital but was declared deceased shortly afterwards.

Fatal crash, Toowoomba

Around 10am, yesterday morning a car collided with a mobility scooter as it was travelling through a roundabout at Toowoomba. The collision caused the rider to fall off the scooter onto Geddes Street where he suffered life-threatening injuries.

The 92-year-old Centenary Heights man was transported to Toowoomba Hospital where he later passed away.

The two occupants of the car were not physically injured.

Serious traffic crash, Barmaryee

A serious traffic crash in Central Queensland has left a 32-year-old man in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Just before 3pm yesterday, police will allege the motorcyclist over took several vehicles and hit a small truck which was turning from Barmaryee Road into Racecourse Road at Barmaryee.

The man suffered chest and head injuries and was flown to Brisbane where he remains in a serious condition.
