Lauren Frazer, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor in the Pediatric Division of Neonatal Perinatal Medicine, was recently awarded an Early Career Award by the Thrasher Research Fund for her project titled "The role of Interleukin-22 signaling and goblet cells during experimental necrotizing enterocolitis."
The purpose of the Thrasher Fund is to provide grants for clinical, hypothesis-driven research that offers substantial promise for meaningful advances in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of children's diseases. The Early Career Award Program is interested in applicants that show great potential to impact that field of children's health through medical research.
Frazier joined the Department of Pediatrics in July 2021. Frazer received her BS in Biology from Georgetown University in 2005 and received her medical and PhD degrees from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 2014. Her Pediatric residency was completed at UNC Chapel Hill in 2018 and, in June 2021, she completed a fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at Boston Children's Hospital/Harvard University.
