As stated by Tourism Minister Roger Cook:

"I'm delighted to welcome the India Men's Cricket Team to Perth in the build-up to the T20 World Cup.

"During my recent trade and investment mission to India I saw first-hand how much interest there is for the upcoming matches in Perth. The reaction during tourism presentations and media interviews I did with Brad Hogg was simply phenomenal.

"Hosting the ICC Men's T20 World Cup is a terrific chance to showcase Western Australia to a global audience and visitors from out-of-State - providing millions of dollars of benefits for our State's tourism and hospitality industries.

"We are seeing a really encouraging lift to visitor numbers from India since the international borders reopened.

"The T20 matches also add to Western Australia's reputation as the sporting capital of Australia in 2022.

"Already this year WA has hosted huge sporting events such as the Margaret River Pro, the Super Netball Grand Final, the NRL State of Origin, the Icon English Premier League double header featuring Manchester United, the Wallabies against England rugby union international and the sold-out Fremantle Dockers elimination final.

"The ICC T20 World Cup adds to the range and breadth of big events now being held in WA.

"All these events are great for local businesses, creating jobs and economic activity for the WA economy."

As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister David Templeman:

"It is fantastic to see international cricket back and bringing in fans and players.

"Having such high level players in our State is great for the game and for growing grassroots support."
